General information
Children – are welcome. A two Handysit is also available.
Crabbing Equipment – Nets, Lines, Buckets & bait is available to buy at The River Shack. This is a top crabbing hotspot that has featured in the Guardian newspaper! Stoke Gabriel ‘Champion Crabber’ T ‘shirts also available.
Kayak Hire….Kayaks are available to hire through ‘Totnes Kayaks’. Explore the Dart Estuary for an hour to all day. Phone Tom on 07799 403788 to check on availability.
Boat Access – Visitors moorings available on the jetty, but please check the tides though! Slipway available for launching of Kayaks.
Disabled Access – good disabled access to cafe.
Dogs – well behaved, clean ones are welcome!
Duck & Swan Food – available to purchase from the cafe, or outside when closed.
Groups – should you be visiting with a large group, please notify us to help us make your visit as enjoyable as possible.
Internet Access – available for customers on our computer and Wifi connection.
Parking – plenty of private parking is available. There is a charge from Easter to September up until 5pm.
Parties – The River Shack is available for private party hire, weddings, birthdays , corporate events and other functions. Please contact us to arrange.
Payment type – Card & cash are accepted.
For small card purchases, under £20, a 50p tranaction fee is added to cover costs.
Pictures – local photography, art & ornaments are available to purchase in The River Shack
Tourist Information – we have a selection of free leaftets about the local area & activities, as well as River Dart guide books for sale.
Weather Station – up to date readings available
Wildlife – there is always wildlife in/on the river or the Millpond. A Wildlife Trust information board on the side of the cafe will help you identify what you’ve seen or what you should look for. Kingfishers, Seals, Swans & Herons can be spotted here!
