General information

Children – are welcome. We have a kids area with books and games. A Handysit is also available.

Crabbing Equipment – available to buy at The River Shack. This is a crabbing hotspot as featured in the Guardian newspaper! ‘Crabbing Champion’ Tshirts also available to purchase.

Boat Access – Visitors moorings available on the jetty, but please check the tides! Slipway available for launching canoes.

Dietary Requirements - we do our best to cater for those with special dietary requirements. Please let us know in advance if you are visiting and need something special.

Disabled Access – good disabled access to cafe.

Dogs – well behaved ones are welcome!

Duck & Swan Food – available to purchase from the cafe, or outside when closed.

Ferry – there is a ferry service to Dartmouth from the quay. Please see the DSRC webite for details.

Groups – should you be visiting with a group, please notify us in advance so we can make sure we are well prepared.

Internet Access – available from our computer and Wifi available.

Parking – plenty of parking, but the car park is owned privately and charging is enforce from Easter to September

Parties – The River Shack is available for private party hire, weddings, birthdays , corporate events and other functions. Please contact us to arrange.

Payment type – card (minimum £10 spend), cheque and cash or accepted. Credit card subject to a 2% charge.

Pictures – local photography & pictures available to purchase in the River Shack

Tourist Information – we have a selection of free leaftets about the local area & activities, as well as River Dart guide books for sale.

Weather Station – up to date readings available

Wildlife – there is a Devon Wildlife Trust Identifying board on the side of the cafe. Kingfishers, Seals have been spotted here!
